So if I use the yamaha thrust washer and the thrust spacer from the kit, I can't tighten the prop nut enough to get a cotter pin in. I was going to post a pic of my thrust washer but I can't get it to load.

Nope. I have been down that road. Its going to be a tight fit with the cotter pin but it will fit with the Yamaha flat washer

Just fyi, you can use the lock tab that Merc uses as well. No cotter pin required.

looks like the metal tab in this pic

Not sure if this is the correct one but this is what's in mine with the Scorpion prop now....solid hub for sterndrive mercs....that was advised by Jerry....said he's had to do that a time or two...

I would go this route, no double thrust washer junk to deal with, easy install and the cotter pin always lines up.

Again, I would also use the forward cone busing I linked before for additional support.

I'm gonna try 1 last time today after work, if I can't get it I will go that route. Personally I think this is ridiculous, it shouldn't be this difficult or I'm just that dumb...lol

Haha, I agree they shouldnt be, it's not you. Too many variations, and I think 2pc thrust washer is just more stuff that needs to seat right and more potential for issues.

My favorite system is the Merc Fat Shaft setup, NO thrust washer, simple and not likely to have issues!

One last heads up, I have found it to be a good practice to check the tq on the nut after the first day out with a new flo-tq setup. Sometimes after it has been ran you will need to re-torque. If left loose/undertorqued it can lead to the thrust wallowing out issue, think that might be why some people have issues, they torque it initially, but then dont check after its been used and everything seats/settles etc that last little bit.

That's what I do. It's a lot easier than messing with that stupid cotter pin.
