    DIY Trolling motor shock absorber?

    Hi All,

    I have a Motorguide Digital Tour 82 lb thrust 24 v trolling motor with a 20.8 mount.

    I have a 1996 procraft V 180 B boat.

My trolling motor mount sits direct over the gunnel on the passenger side of the boat with about a 3 inch gap between the bottom of the mount and the plexiglass. I am looking for suggestions to put some sort of shock absorber on the trolling motor mount as it has been taking a beating recently. I think some sort of hard foam would work, but not sure where to find it? Thanks in advance for any advice.

take a lunchable package and fill the square slot where the cheese goes and fill it with silicone. When it cures silicone the puck to the mount where it contacts the boat.

The head of my trolling motor sits outside the gunnel. Best solution ive come up with so far is a "D" ring bolted to the deck and a heavy bungee wrapped around the head. Both hooks hook on to "D" ring

Get one of these kits. You just line up where you want the stick to hit, drill a hole in your mount, and cut the stick to size. Install it on the mount and put the little rubber shoe on it. I did one and let the rubber hit on the gel coat without any problems. I'm sure over time it's going to scratch and stuff so ideally the carpet is a better spot. Since your drilling the hole you can put it anywhere on the mount

Is the bow cleat on the port side close enough to use a bungie cord from the motor to the cleat?
