    Yup.

I'll even find an aerial image from low/clear water (usually spring/winter), create waypoints, and then transfer them to my GPS to check out on the water.

I've found a ton of great spots doing this.

Its not easy to do, unfortunately.

Anyone use the Navionics boating mobile app? The one for $9.99? If so can you view GPS coordinates? Thanks.

this is one of the best secrets out there. I went back on all our local lakes and now have pics of every rock pile added when the lakes were renovated and had very low water in them. BY far this has been extremely beneficial to my tourney fishing

At the Classic this year, the Raymarine Axiom had a Standard Mapping satellite overlay of Conroe "pre impoundment". We also had the chip in a Bass Cat on the water for demo rides. If you think that google earth is cool, wait until you have it on a unit on the boat. Very eye opening to see what's below the water line.

It is pretty cool to have satellite photo overlays on your units....i know with Lowrance one can make their own and even better if it can be when the water is low or before impoundment.....lakes that i fish around my neck of the woods dont have any type of mapping, just the basic outline, so i got the aerial photos made and use those when i'm fishing those waters....

Making your own maps is for contour lines. Raymarine can do that also with Navionics Sonar Charts Live. Satellite imagery is different

The real deal is satellite imagery used in conjunction with Sonar Chart mapping.

I was talking along the lines of using a few programs to make just a satellite aerial to use on the units....no contours, etc......

Yes please share - is that a Lowrance only thing or can you do this on other models as well?

This might be a stupid question, but when your boat icon is sitting on that giant rock, is it really sitting on the giant rock. How accurate is the chart after making a map like that?

Giving his location i'm going to say that is an aerial map that was made from google earth when the Texas lakes were in a drought stage and now that they filled up he can see whats below the water with the image as his map......

A few years ago i did a night tourny at Toledo Bend and had a aerial photo "map" of the lake, i used it in a split view with navionics to see where i was at when fishing and idling around.....

My Lakemaster plus chip will do contour & satellite overlay. But if I wanted to pull a historical map from Google Earth and make it to view on my unit, can I do that with a Humminbird unit?

I'd say no, unless HB has their own software for the public to use......for what i have there are 2 programs that are being used to create it....both are free to public and one of them is from Lowrance....

It indeed was, but can he see his boats icon/cursor on the map he made? Or is it just a visual reference? Does that make any sense?
