    Mercury "sneeze"

My 1989 Mercury 150 hp XR4 runs great when above 3 mph but when sitting in idle it sometimes "sneezes" a few times and then quits. Compression is 130-140 on all cylinders. Not sure what would cause this.

Had the same issue, yes advance timing you need to pick up a service manual it will show how to time the proper way
1986 Glasstream 150 XR2,SN OA933978, 24p Trophy Plus,"no jackplate" NO idle stabilizer until 04/13/21 put it back on UPDATE took it back off and use new S&L settings
