    On Board Charger Help

My on board charger is getting extremely hot and one stops lighting up. Is it time to replace or is there a fix? It is 17 years old. Please advise.

Warm is OK, HOT is not !! Put a volt meter on the battery that doesn't light up an see if you're getting 13-14 volts. Check your connections. They MUST be tight and CLEAN. If that doesn't solve it. then make sure your Batteries are good. A bad cell will cause the charger to get hot. You'll need to take it in to have it checked. Id take it to a TRUCK repair shop like Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner. Or a BATTERY manufacturer. They have a computer check and can give you a better read. If all is good, then it's the charger. They're usually not fixable and probably needs to be replaced after 17 yrs anyway.
