    Rpm's

Hello all. I have a 1998 tr19 with 175 pro xs, 6"jp & 24p Fury. I have raised ptp up to 3" & my rpm's stay at 5400 & speed is 63 gps. Some say check setup to make sure it is set to wot. Some say keep jacking motor up till rpm's change or I lose wp. Any idea on why my rpm's don't change? Thanks!

I would check to make sure you are getting full throttle, especially if you have a hot foot. Throttle cables have been known to stretch a little over time.

How much are the rpms affected by double pumping oil during the 10 hr break in period for a new 175 pro xs?

You're getting 4% slip on that setup, so the prop definitely isn't the problem! You may try a 23 instead for more RPMs.

My 175 XRi EFI will turn a 25 Tempest Plus up to 5600. Heavier boat certainly and I think the Tempest is easier to turn than the Fury pitch-for-pitch. It doesn't sound like you're too far off to me!

Ok. Do you think the double pumping of oil brings rpms down some? By the way, what is your gps speed?

Get past break in period first. Follow the break in procedure. You should gain a couple hundred once that motor loosens up.

That's good news to hear. Waiting on my new rpm gauge to come in. It's looking like it may take me till June to get my break in finished.

Have same boat and motor combo. Just put new motor on in April. How far below the pad are you now?

Be sure you check your water pressure on a long high speed turn with the motor trimmed up to running trim. Straight line don't mean much if you are dropping to zero in the turns. Found that out the expensive & hard way.

I learned this is not always the best way to go. Did this on my last boat and my water pressure stay up around 25lbs WOT but my Trophy 4 blade started to slip it was so high. Dropped it back down for better bite, especially in rough water and big waves. Speed pretty much stayed the same. Try going down another prop size would be my guess, that isn't a light boat at 1770lbs ish with a 175.

How fast are you running with the same boat?
