Right now I'm running 63-64 with prop 2 3/4 below pad. 24" Fury and turning 5600 rpm. Only 4-5 hours on the motor. Heading to Michigan for 3 days in 2 weeks so i'll get a chance to
play with it. Not any lakes close by big enough to get out and run it. Went from a 150 efi to this motor and it's like a new boat! Really like this motor

After break in period if rpm's are still the same, ditch the Fury. It is a bit harder to turn than some props. Tempest 2 or a good 4-blade would be my choice. It should turn a 24 in the right prop. If you want to keep a Fury drop down a size. You should pick up a few rpm's after break in.

I'm reading the thread with the understanding this a a new Pro XS, and I'm cringing. Break in the motor according to Mercury and then play with it.

Ok my question is this. Right now with the 24 Tempest Plus I run 69.6 gps at 6150 rpm's. Would a 25 Tempest Plus benefit me?

Probably not... Send the 24 Tempest to Mark Croxton and have him balance and blueprint it... Give him all your numbers and he'll do his magic... Plus, tuning the prop you have is cheaper than a new one... Dan

I owned a tr 19 with a 200 efi and a 24 fury If you are getting 69.5 from a 175 on that boat that's very good. I could hit 69 to 71 alone with my setup. Hit 73 once.

I have a 175 pro xs. Manual says WOT is 5250-5750. I would say if your at 6100 that’s over doing it. May want to up the size of your prop to lower your rpms. As long as you can spin it getting out of the hole you will be fine. You will put your rpms closer to the correct range and probably pick up speed. Although your flying as it is. Just a thought on the rpms...don’t want you to over due it and hurt the motor.

Never touch anything you have and run it exactly like that. That is 5% slip. And hope you never ding that prop.

Smart move and its fun to see you improve knowledge and actualize performance. If you have chine you have potentially more performance if you can learn to drive the wheel to control chine. It's scary at first but master that and there is another level your boat might increase speed. Seat time is required.

Actual rpm range for my 2017 175 xs is 5500-6000. Non 175 XS is 5250-5750$

My new XS manual just really stressed about the 1st hour of break in and to just change the rpm every 10 minutes on next 3 hours to compete break in.. guess things have changed a little over the last few years..

    those are good numbers..
