The three major festivals for ancient Israel were Passover, Penticost, and Booths.
Passover was celebrated for over a thousand years at the time of Christ. The slain lamb was to be perfect, no broken bones. Its blood put on the doorposts and the angel of death would passover. It found its fulfillment in that first Good Friday and Easter. "Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." Death has passed over us. Without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sins.
50 days later was Pentecost which celebrated the beginning of the harvest. It found its fulfillment in the New Testament Pentecost where the Disciples spoke in many foreign tongues (although not trained) and the harvest of souls began.
Lastly, was the festival of Booths which marked Israel living in tents (Booths) for 40 years in the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land. The only festival to yet be fulfilled. When all God's elect are called home to heaven--our promised land-- will be this festival's fulfillment.
