when tilted up to the max motor locks up in position. Also motor jerks like hell when tilting down , can lift up on the cavitation plate and then it goes nice and smooth
as long as it has upward pressure on it.

Air in the P/T/T system and/or more likely the tilt tube nut needs to be correctly torqued. It will be a U too in the model number-no V used in J/E model codes. EU would make it a 1997 model.
