19' Nitro with a 150 hp Honda

Anyone running a combination like this? What are your thoughts as far as set up. 4 stroke is new to me and I am comfortable with lower speeds and longer hole shots. No tournaments for me just wanted something I could depend on and afford. My 2 stroke Merc was becoming a major money pit. Be easy on me I'm not trashing Mer or any one else for that matter. I heard that the mercury 4 strokes 150 HP and less were made by Honda. They may still be made by Honda. Not sure if this is true. So it is a rumor. Would like to know if it's true.

Honda has never built a motor for Mercury. The 150 four stroke Mercury is built in Fond du Lac. Tohatsu builds the small engines 30HP and down. Surprised the 150 Honda is priced better than a 150 Merc, esp. if you shop around online to some of the high volume dealers. Honda dealer support is much harder to find than Mercury's. Mercury has more dealers nationwide than any other brand. The Mercury gives you more displacement at less weight than the Honda and a more simple engine design. Give the Mercury a hard look.

I went from a 225 opti to a 250 suzuki ss 4 stroke. My boat performance is better by far. I would not be one bit afraid of a 150 4 of any major brand.

Mercury Outboards, 30 Hp and less, are made by Tohatsu in Japan. Mercury Marine builds 40, 50 and 60 horsepower outboard motors in Suzhou, China.
