    Open water?

Can't be the only one dying to get out, so if you know of any open water right now, feel free to share it. Melendy in Brookline is open, but the launch is covered in snow. Going to double check it tomorrow to see how much the rain knocked it down, shovel the rest, and get out there on Sunday.

Potanipo in Brookline is still locked in, and a few ponds in the Greenfield area are still buried in ice and snow, so dog expect to find anything out that way for another week or two at best.

Anyone know how many parking spots there are at Opechee? I know where the launch is, but I've never actually been to it. Best I can tell from Google images is it looks to hold maybe 8 trailered spots at best?

Potanipo in Brookline is open, but the water is absurdly high and ripping over the dam right there at the launch. I wouldn't recommend trying to fish there til the water drops a foot.

Well I got my fist skunk of the year under my belt
    Hit winnisquam on Sunday.
Really we were salmon fishing but did spend an hour or so trying to catch a bass.
Water temps was 35. Still a bit of ice but I'm sure this week's weather will take out most of it.
Talked to quite a few boats and couldn't find anyone that caught anything.
There were a few bass boats around. Any of you out there Sunday ?
Didn't catch anything but it sure was nice to get out there

Tim, don't you have any small ponds up there ? Just fish a little pond 5 - 6 ft. deep, with a shallow crank bait.
We have been doing very good and the next two days we will be working hard to get a ton of fish in the Crawdad... Good luck out there and be safe...

Actually there isn't a lot of open water around here yet.
I'm sure today and tomorrow's weather is going to have something to say about that though.
This was a trip me and my buddy do every year. We usually do opening day of salmon season but I couldn't make it.
Fish for salmon most of the day then hit some smallies for a few.
Just wast happening this year. It was dead. Still had a good time casting at nothing though

I checked the three lakes in Greenfield on Monday afternoon and they were all still iced in, though I believe Zephyr should be ice free after today. Sunset was only about 1/3 open, and I couldn't get all the way down to the boat launch at Otter. There's still a lot of snow out there once you get within a mile or so of the "center" of Greenfield, they got hit pretty hard that last storm, same for Francestown. I'd be surprised if that area was accessible this weekend, the ice on Otter was still a deep white covering almost all of what I could see.

Took the day off and went out to Melendy in Brookline today though. This place has been ice free for about 2 weeks, water temp was 49 when I got there at 7:30, and was 55-56 in the shallows when I left at 2:00. Managed 5 largies, all up in like 3' of water. Lots of bait fish moved up. Saw a couple of decent sized bass cruising but couldn't get them to bite. Caught 4 on a jig, the 5th on a shakey head. Tried throwing a shallow crank, jerkbait, and dropshot for about 2-3 hours total just on those but no takers.

Nice report Snover, glad you got out and caught some.
Probably another week before I can get back out.

Got out on Potanipo today for a few hours, the water level is back to normal so launching isn't an issue. This lake and I have a weird relationship. I've only ever had one day of catching double digit bass, I think I caught 12. Other than that, only in the singles, but I tend to catch some biggens. Only caught one today, but it was a damn good one. 4 lbs 10 oz on a football jig, working a steep bank.
