    Ouch $10,000+ more

Bought a 4 year old Z21 Ranger in 2012 for $35000, now 5 years later a comparable Ranger is $45000 or more. I was thinking of getting a newer Ranger but I don't know about it now.

So my point is who can complain about that cost of ownership for a recreational item

1 year old z520 in 2010 could be bought for $40k. Now a 2016 1 year old z520 is $55k. Same thing happened with trucks as well. New 2011 chevy $30k. New 2016 chevy $40k. Now having said that it also makes used stuff worth more. Like my champion boat that i paid $24k 7 years ago and its still worth 20k. Its all just hard to justify in my mind for toys.

excellent point, cost has gone up but resale is even better. OP - I just sold my '08 z21, Ran it for 5 years and sold it for what I paid. Bought a new 521c with the equity.

Ranger parts guy said yesterday the old restores are becoming very popular (lots of calls of people restoring old rangers found sitting in people yards)because of these new boat prices, he also said they were built better back then.

Good points! This actually applies across all areas of life....look at your health insurance, home insurance, grocery bills, new home prices, etc, etc.

Same here. My 2002 floats the same as it did brand new. I would love a newer Z519/20 but it won't happen.

When you get your new 2017 I want yours for what you paid for it.

I think your boat is worth 47K. So do most owners and dealers!
