I take boat to local car wash where you can spray it with warm soapy water. Go home and use wife's steam cleaner.

    1. Go to carwash
    2. Soak carpet down with Folex, you will need a couple of bottles
    3. Scrub with brush
    4. Pressure wash carpet with clean water

You will be amazed at what comes out. I good extra step would be to vacuum the wet carpet to get even more out.

I always vacuum first. For routine cleaning I use vinegar/water solution and spot remover for tough spots. Combination of carpet shampooer with a soft hand brush for tougher and hard to get areas. I try to limit detergents as they tend to build up in the carpet. When completely dried, I then spray on scotch guard. I try to avoid excess water inside of boat and bilge areas because they are really picky at some lakes I fish....LOL

Vacuum as needed for regular maintenance. About once per year or every two years I shampoo the carpet. We have a shampoo machine for cleaning the house carpet. It has a detachable wand that works great for cleaning boat carpet. I use the same cleaner that we use in the house on the boat carpet.

LOL - clean and dry here or you don't fish.
Casitas was my weekend escape for 40+ years. Now moved to Murrieta and will be doing DVL every weekend. Still haven't clipped the Casitas cable.

Get yourself a Bissel spot bot and the associated cleaner and use the wand. Takes a good hour to clean but boat carpet comes out like new.

Do yourself a favor and check out or try peregrine 250 carpet X cleaner. The stuff works amazing better than anything I have ever used. Just spray on let soak or use it as the solution in your carpet cleaner.

you local guys PM me and I can get you some sample packs.

For you vinegar guys, do you have to rinse with a garden hose after you finish with the shampooer to get the smell out?

I vacuum mine regularly to keep it looking good. But this does not answer your question.

Once it dries and you spend a day out on the water, can hardly smell the vinegar. Only using about 1/2 cup per gallon of water or what ever the shampooer holds.
