Punching reel??

Getting a new punching set up rigged and ready for this summer. Getting a 795 dobyns. What reel would you recomend or what reel are you using. Definitely 8:1 or faster?

Congrats on the Doybns. There are likely going to be a lot if suggestions. I prefer a reel on the small side. Long as it runs up smooth, I don't think you need to break the bank buying a reel. I've got Scorpion ( Japanese Curado). That is much slower than what you want

IMO the reel does not matter much as long as it is strong and beefy.

I own the same rod, and have it paired with a Zillion TWS 9.1:1. That reel is blazing fast, and durable. Feels great on the 795 IMO

I use a metanium xg and a chronarch xg. but think a scorpion or curado 70 xg would be great as well.

Super duty on my dobyns. I do own curado 70's bit find that the small profile is a little less powerful when flipping and punching.

I used a super duty for awhile on my dx795 and it worked great but went back to my 200e now. Just feels better in my hands. Been kicking around the idea of getting a 7:1 gear set for one of my 50e or scorpion 1000s and trying them out.

I can see where it needs to be a tough reel for the heavy weights definitely going with something like that. Does drag weight come into play with your punching setups? Upgrade drag washers?
