    Trolling motor prop storage position

hi guys--as title says-what side of the trolling motor do you put your prop when you pull it up? have read conflicting opinions and was wondering which side you store yours--in toward the middle of boat or outside so it does not hit your boat if it gets started by accident? I always stored mine on the "inside" but maybe I am missing something? Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Inside is less abusive to the cover on mine.

I store mine outside, simply because it allows my foot pedal to be flat, or in the horizontal position.

Prop on the inside for less wear and tear on the cover if in use. I always turn my MK speed control to "0" so that if the petal "ON" button is accidently hit, the blade doesn't wack you.

I store mine to the inside so it doesn't hit the dock.

Inside for trailering with cover... Plus I ran the transducer cable so it to be stored inside anyways... Dan

I store mine on the inside because of the boat cover.

Depends on the trolling motor. I store them where the load is even on the mount. My old Motor-guide stored with the prop to the outside. If you put it on the inside the motor wasn't sitting right on the mount. My fortrex has the prop to the inside. FYI, you can change the position of the foot pedal easily. Take the top head of and you will see the bushing the the cables are in. It will pull up off the shaft and you can adjust the pedal where you like and slide it back on the shaft.

A Fortrex "sits" better when the prop to the inside but I usually stow with prop out.

Fortrex with prop inside, pedal is flat (neutral) and it also doesn't hit my boat if turned on. Proper installation is key.

Outside. It's out of the way, won't hit the bow if accidentally turned on and I'll wrap a towel around the blade to protect the cover.

Prop on the inside to protect the cover, I also lay a towel across the prop to help. My prop won't hit the boat if turned on.

For me prop inside. I have a heavy canvas shower cap looking cover that put over my prop to keep down wear on my boat cover.

Inside, at normal setting it doesn't touch anything if turned on, shallow it will touch sonar. It looks safer to the propeller to me being docks and or if you run down a seagull by ass-ident it seems to me that it would glance the prop more than smack the prop and break it. Also to me the prop has higher wind resistance than the non prop side, may as well put that infront of the sonar so it's only one area of wind resistance instead of two. Cables are not stretched but not pedal flat
