Question Small transducer for trolling motor

Debating on either the GT-22 or the GT-8. I only want it for 2-D chirp but I want as small of ducer as possible.

    GT-22
Frequency CHIRP High Wide (150-240 kHz); ClearVü CHIRP 455 kHz (425-485 kHz) & 800 kHz (790-850 kHz)
    Power CHIRP Traditional 250 W; ClearVü 350 W
    Beamwidth Traditional (24-16); ClearVü (2.0x50 @ 455 kHz) & (1.0x30 @ 800 kHz)

    GT-8
Frequency CHIRP High Wide (145-230 kHz)
    Power 250 W
    Beamwidth 24-16
Will the GT-8 provide as good of signal and image as the GT-22?

Great, great question. Going to make me go out on a limb a bit. I guess technically that the 2d performance on the GT52, GT22 and GT8 should be the same. I am hung up on this GT8. Really like it. I have drunk the Kool-Aid on this transducer. I have 2 on the boat right now, a GT22 and a GT52. Don't use the 22 or 52 that much but use the GT8 all the time. Take this as subjective, but when I am in deep water particularly, I think I get a bit better performance from the GT8 than from the 2d element in the 22 or 52. I've not really done a head to head test, maybe will this summer when I go back to deep water fishing. The GT22 is 6.1 inches long. So if a smaller size matters the GT8 fits the bill. It's tiny. 3x1.5x1.

I don't like the linear scale on the PS21/PS31. Normally I look about 60 ft forward. When the fish are really close in, I want to know exactly where they are. I'd prefer that the 0-10 and 10-20 range take up double the space. So I point one of the GT8's tilted forward just a bit so I can look directly past where the regular straight down 2d points.

I can't explain the difference on the frequency range. 150-240 or 145-230. Maybe I'm wrong about them having the same exact element or maybe in a combo transducer something funky is going on. I don't know. Anyway I think you'll be real pleased with the GT8.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

Thank you. I currently am running the GT-52 on my trolling motor but I only ever use my traditional and panoptix. Gonna downsize that ducer but didn't want to lose the good 2-D. Sounds like I'll be ok with the GT8
