If there is no down imaging element...

How can I run a frequency of 455 on the clearvu and a frequency of 800 on the sidevu at the same time? It seems like if my unit used the sidevu to create downvu, then they would both run at the same frequency. Am I an idiot for thinking this? It seems like being able to run 2 different frequencies means they're are 2 different elements.

Correct me if I'm wrong as this is likely just wishful thinking by me.

So far as we know right now, its only the new CV transducers that dont have the down element. There may be others, but Garmin doesnt publish that spec, so who knows.

That said, if you have one of those CV transducers, then I dont see how you could run "simulated down" on one frequency and sidevu on another since its all comeing from the sidevu crystals.

Because there is no "down" element broadcasting a signal, I dont see how you could get interference - interference requires two separate signals interacting - so I doubt this is something to worry about.

Any piezo can transmit both compatible frequencies ... They just have to alternate the frequency transmitted ...

Not saying that applies to this question ... But it is possible ...

HB Dual Beam Plus does both (alternating ping frequency) when blending 83/200kHz ...

Thanks Rickie, I hadnt considered that. Still, if they are alternating frequencies back and forth, you shouldnt see the interference as they would be two different frequencies. The major interference of this type (ghost lines) is from the same frequency being used on both.

If its interference from a different transducer, then it could still be an issue I think.

i noticed while looking at different models today that the little picture on the box of the downvu models show a solid beam shooting down, while the clearvu little picture is two separate beams shooting down.

    I bought a downvu model.

Never mind. I have the CV52 transducer on my 93sv. I'm sure I'll be selling this unit.

I would suggest you call customer support and see if they will give you a free GT52 or GT50 or GT51 instead.

Id really like to know what they say.

I can't imagine they would give me one for free and I'm sure not interested in paying $300 for one either.

In the past, support has been very generous in handling issues.

In this case, they have been caught out in a bald faced lie that amounts to false advertising. You have grounds for a law suit I would think.

They would be stupid NOT to give you a free replacement.

    Cant hurt to ask.....

Why doesn't some just run a cv52 next to a gt 52 and see if there is a difference. Lots assumptions being made with out real proof of anything.
Im Sure Garmin will release some information soon on this subject. In the mean time my units do what I need them to do.

If someone wants to send me a CV52 I'd more than happy to record some side-by-side with my GT52.

Garmin switched my CV for a gt with just a simple phone call. So if your unhappy just call. They are doing what they can. Or they are for me.
