Trying decide between 2016 920 Pro or 2017 721 Pro

Need a little help here, so I decided to come to the experts. I'm in the process of upgrading from a Nitro Z6 to a Phoenix. I'm looking at the used 2016 920 ProXP with a 250 ProXS or a 2017 721 ProXP with 250 SHO. They are roughly the same price so I'm wondering whats the difference. From what I can tell the length is slightly bigger on the 721 but the beam is the same (96). I'm guessing the deck is wider on the 920, but can someone tell me if they are that much different. I would love to hear from people that have been on both. Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

The front deck on the 920 is about 4" wider and the 721 is 5" longer. So, the boats are the same width until you get to maybe the last few inches on the deck. I got the 2017 721 because I didn't think the small extra width up front was worth sacrificing the extra length. Others opinions will differ. I got a fully loaded 721 for a little more than a stock 920. Made sense to me. If I was choosing between a 2016 920 and a 2017 721 I'd take the new boat for the same price. Again, just my opinion. Can't go wrong either way really. I just got my boat on Friday and I absolutely love it. Good luck!

Similiar boats, a lot will come down to whether you want a 2 stroke merc or the 4 stroke yammi. If the pro xs has several hours on it for a one year old boat i would probably go with new. If it has 15 hours youre basically getting a new boat either way. Is one loaded more than the other or have options that you prefer (electronics, padded deck, hydraulic plate, shocks, brakes). In the end its your decision to make but i love the width on my 921

I love my 920, but if those were the two choices (and everything else you didn't mention were roughly the same- electronics, poles, etc) I was giving myself, I'd take the 721/SHO. Reasoning- One year newer, same money, '17 721 deck is supposed to be a bit wider and higher than pre 17, and the SHO. Just my .02

Thanks for the replies guys. The 2016 920 has 239 hours. Electronics wide the 920 has duel Onix 10's at the console and one at the bow, hydrowave, padded deck, etc. The 721 has a Helix 9SI at console and 9SI at bow. Both have 10' jack plates and dual Blades. I live in South Florida and fish Okeechobee and the Everglades, we really don't use depth finders that often since we rarely fish water deeper than 10 feet, so I'm not too concerned with the dual setup at the console.

A new boat vs used for the same price. Seems like a no brainer.

new boat. 239 is quite a bit and I would be concerned about the ONIX units too.

I'm really leaning towards the new 721, but my main concern is the size of the front deck. My partner and I usually fish together on the front deck, so that's pretty important to me. As far as features, I can't really seem to find a lot of differences between the 721 and the 920, I'm sure there are some, but I can't find any that are important to me. The other challenge I'm having is there are no Phoenix dealers in my area, the closest is about 4 hours away, so jumping in the truck and driving to see it is not really an option in my current situation. My buddy has a 920, but I've never even seen a 721 in person. Thanks for all the help, it's greatly appreciated.

Ernie the 920 has a very large deck but the 721 has IMO plenty of room, however you know opinion can vary. I would highly suggest climbing around in one before you pull the trigger. The 721 is an awesome fishing platform and to have new and the SHO it would be nice he deciding factor for me. Good luck on your decision and please post pics when you get your new bird.

Edit: I just saw the hours of the 920. 239 hours to 0 hours and full warentee!!! Average guy probably puts 50 hours a year or less on an engine so factor that in. This would be an easy decision for me. 721 / SHO

721, no doubt. I picked mine up at the end of January. I came out of a Z8, so I was used to a large front deck. I have no regrets at all and there is plenty of room.

2 guys won't have any problem on the 721. Whenever we go flipping me and my partner are both on the front deck and it's no problem at all. Well it's no problem unless I have all my rods out and laying everywhere lol. Seriously though, we put all my rods on the other side so we don't step on them but there will be plenty of room. The 17 is also wider than mine

I've had a 721 for four years, get it! The extra length makes up for any width difference in my opinion. That and that many hours on a 2016, no way.

2 guys flippin that know what they're doing, will have no problem on the 721 fer shur.
On the 2017 it's like a 2.5" difference in width, because they raised the deck a little and that widened it.
So now, with a shorter top cap, flippin will be easier as well.
I have a sho and love it. You should go for the new boat, you'll never regret it.
