I bought a 2002 205vx last year and never oped it up to WOT until last weekend. I have an Optimax 225,390 hrs, 4-blade Trophy Plus 25p, no jack plate. With full tanks and 2 fisherman, (450lbs) plus gear, it ran 54.6 @ 5100. Shouldn't it do better ?

Yep, should do better. 5,100 RPM's is too low. Start with your prop to pad measurement. A jackplate might be needed, otherwise a prop change.

Assuming your engine is running right, you should be able to spin that prop more than 5100 even without a jackplate. Is the prop damaged? Check to ensure you are getting full throttle at WFO. Sometimes throttle cables will stretch or the hotfoot needs adjusting.
That boat should run 70+.

64-66 with your setup. A 25 Tempest with a jackplate should give you 68-69 at 5900-6000 rpms. Prop to pad set at 2 1/2"
Thanks, I'll check my Prop to Pad and my throttle cable too !!
