You couldnt give away a long bed regular cab down south. Cant even find em on the lot except in white with vynyl interior and manual windows. Ive drove quite a few and its like parking a locomotive. Takes 8pt turns to get into a spot.

I have a 2000 Ford Lightning (flare side 6 1/2 foot bed) and I love it. Tows a Champion 201 very well, easy to park, gathered many show trophies and runs low 12's at the track.

Don't give up hope, I bet a Tacoma could handle a Hobe, maybe not for cross country highway trips but in town should be alright, just be careful braking

Some great responses with a to to think about, thanks everyone (except Enforcer...).

One of the responses mentioned grandkids and it hit me. Both of my grandfathers had regular cab trucks whenI was a young child, and I loved riding around in them. Some great memories. This thread has been like therapy

Here is the truck I am falling in love with. Of course it's more than I will ever need, but that's the story of my vehicle buying history

I think a Tacoma would work for the most part. I have heard people not using th ebed extender to bring their Hobie's to local lakes without issues, but I would probably get a bed extender. I need to go test drive the trucks I am interested in.

Thanks again everyone for the input.

Because it's built and sitting there

I custom ordered my 2015 F350 KR and it was a painstaking process to get it. The truck was built in two weeks of ordering but took another 4 weeks for delivery. My dealer even called Ford and offered to pick it up and was denied.

the 250's are out there. a lot of times the dealer wants to sell you what they have in stock rather than locate another truck.

I've tested a 350 vs 250 for a work truck, the 250 definitely rode softer. either way I'm sure you will enjoy

I've owned both in the 6.7 powerstroke and there is a bit of a difference for sure. Of course my 2015 F350 was a King Ranch so the seats were comfortable as all hell. Since the regular cabs are XLT at max only, I'm sure I will feel more. Need to test drive some trucks for sure. I appreciate your assistance, as well as everyone else on here.

Hard to find reg cab long bed trucks any more. (aside from corporate, no option, vehicles).
I've been looking for a long time.. for an 09 or newer Ram 2500, std cab, 8ft bed, 4wd, diesel...wrecked. Just not many to be found.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

The Taco will be much easier to run around town in unloaded while that beast Ford will be a bunch easier to load the boat in...choices!

Good luck in your search. I owned the last year 5.9 Cummins (2007) Ram 2500 quad cab SB and it was a hell of a truck. Great mileage as well. Not very sophisticated interior so I traded in for a 2011 F250 6.7 crew cab SB that was decked out. I lost about 3k in ownership on that Ram it was so wanted the dealership had a list of people to call. Probably should have sold it outright.

I'm going to go drive both and go from there. The Taco's hold their value really well, but I would like to get a truck that I can drive until the wheels fall off; I just have issues holding onto vehicles. Either would probably do the job and then some. Decisions, decisions.
