Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!
I've always used a bead as well, but a glass one, in various colors, i seem to catch more with a Blue one than any other? Most guys don't use the bead any more when Texas rigging, not sure why?
I don't peg unless I have to. I feel like my hookups are less when pegging and if I don't need it I don't see the advantage
I always use a rubber stop and usually have it positioned so the weight stays tight against the nose of the bait. But as was mentioned earlier, I'll some times slide the bobber stop up the line 4" or so. I only do that when using weights of a 1/2 oz or larger. With weights that heavy or heavier I think it helps my hook up percentage. The weight stays where it is while the bait gets sucked into the fish's mouth.
At least that's what I think.
I always peg the weight tight against the bait regardless of its size if I'm fishing wood cover though.
In the last few years I have been pegging about 90% of the time with any Texas Rig.
Yep. Always.
Most of the time. More open type water, no.
Depends on what I'm fishing. Light weights, with say a texas rigged tube I don't peg. Pitching or flipping I peg the weight, because I want the bait to go where the sinker goes.

Never peg unless im pitching heavy heavy mats or cover. Your hookups will drastically lower with a pegged weight.
I only peg when flipping.

When I use a weight, this is what I use also.
Only when flipping/pitching and sometimes fishing grass
I always tie one on.

I never peg
Only when flipping buckbrush or heavy grass. Other than that I like the bait and weight separating causing an erratic action to the bait.
Concur... Almost never peg a bait.
IMO, the less weight a fish initially feels when it picks up your T-rigged bait du jour, the less apt it is to quickly spit it and the more likely you'll get that extra fraction of a second to detect the bite...
Think of it as a CQB version of a C-rig, on steroids.
Then again, I'm a dinosaur that uses hand-honed Tru-Turn 047ZS hooks almost exclusively (anyone have any 5/0 they'd be willing to part with?) when pitching my favorite plastic(s)...
Your mileage, of course, may vary.

I peg if penetrating cover... flipping brush, punching mats. Otherwise no peg.
