    Zx225 prop help!

I have a (new to me) 2003 zx225 with a 2007 Yamaha hpdi 250 10" slidemaster manual jackplate. I used the boat about 3 times and spun the hub on my Yamaha 15 5/8 27 M series prop. I was getting 74 out of that prop at 5700rpm. I have tried multiple props to replace this both 27p and 25p that Just blow out without feathering it to get on plane. I'm currently running a a smaller diameter prop that is a 25p. I'm only getting about 60mph out of it at 5900 Rpms. The boat has more throttle, but to stay under 6000 rpm trimmed up this is all I can get out of it. This is the first prop I have found that will get me on plane without blowing out, but I'm slow as Christmas. Any recommendations on where I should go from here would be greatly appreciated! Can't really figure out what prop I need since they don't make these Yamaha props anymore, and that seems to be the best one for this boat to perform like it should. Th aka

Not sure why you have a 250 on that boat, but the 25T1 is the right prop for your boat.

I personally didn't put the 250 on it, but that's what the guy I bought it from had available to him at the best price when the 225 started having issues. Any idea on why I can't get any speed out of a 25? They do not sell the 25TI anymore do they?

All the Yamaha props are hard to find right now. Why don't you just get the 27M fixed? If you like it, you should keep it.

I had 2 shops try and press hubs in the 27 M and was finally told the inner splines on the prop were worn and a hub was not going to last. Whether that is the case or not I'm not really sure. I'm kind of scared to buy a 25t1 now even if I found on because the 25 I have on there now won't push the boat no where near what the 27M would. I'm not really sure why though.

The 225 with a 225 typically does best with a 25t1. Since you got a few more ponies, a 27T1 maybe better. You probably need to adjust the height of your motor. Most 20ft Skeeters like to run right around full trim. I think your prop to pad is too high, lowering it with a 25t1 will see better results.

Randy T thanks man, I'll try lowering it a little and see if it improves. I'm going to look around and try to get my hands on a 27 that will work.

I know this is a few days old. I almost guarantee that if you go to 2.75/2.5 p2p with a 27temptest you will FLY with 250 on that boat. Before I bought my phoenix I had a skeeter zx250 with a 300HPDI. I ran 26t1, 27T1, and 27 temptest. I was the fastest with the temptest. 81mph to be exact. Still have videos. I sold the 300 and put a 250sho on it so I could fish BFL and ABA also added 2 powerpoles while the swap was taking place. Ran a 26T1 and hit 77-78 a few times alone (have pictures of this as well) and ran 76 loaded consistently. The older zx hulls are very fast good riding hulls when set up right. I have a friend running 74mph in an 04 zx225 with 225. He is running a temptest. The temptest and T1 run very similar on these boats. I would run the T1 if you don't want to have it blueprinted as a temptest can sometimes vary drastically stock. Good luck with this awesome setup, I know its a fun rig.

Another plus with the temptest is pvs plugs. You will be able to adjust to alleviate the blowout. You shouldn't be blowing out like that with he hpdi unless motor is to high. What is your prop to pad?
