I have the Xi5 and really like it. It will take time getting used to the foot control though.

It is different but it only took a trip or two to get used to it. It works as designed and is nice in heavy wind. Only drawback is the awkward deployment.

Agreed - but I have Lowanrce and can't use the I-link unless I get Birds.......

the auto deploy is interesting, but that is the only advantage I see.

I have one on my cottage boat great for pike perch crappies etc. For my bassboat Ive bought an Ultrex cause you need the cable feel when flipping.

If you're trying to decide between the Xi5 and the Ultrex, take my word for it. It's no contest! I sold my Xi5 and bought the Ultrex because the Xi5 was basically junk. Could never get rid of the interefernce from it, and the pedal, for me at least, was next to worthless. Comparing the two side by side is like comparing a heavy duty t-motor, (Ultrex) next to a toy. There is a reason for cost difference! And there is a reason most pros run Minn Kota.

Go with the Ultrex. Better quality and a lot easier to stow/deploy.

I really like the xi5. No issues at all for me.
Alot of people don't like the pedal. Alot don't take the time to get used to it.

I have the Xi5. Deploying it and stowing it is okay......but a little awkward....not complaining just stating fact. So many years of using the old style it will take some getting used to. I have only tried the foot pedal once. It is VERY stiff, not sure I will ever use it. I use the pendant. Mounted it on a quick attach. Thinking about getting a X5 regular foot pedal for swapping out when fishing different structures.

I like the Xi5, personally don't like minnkota. Only way I would pay the extra for the minnkota is if someday I fish out of someone's boat that has one, they let me run it and it is as good as they say.....and it would have to be good......but I am always open to changing my mind if proved otherwise.
