    150 sho proper motor height on a excel 220 bay pro?

    Recently purchased a excel 220 bay pro with a Yamaha 150 sho on it. I'm almost through with the break-in period and was curious to see if anyone knows the best height for the cavitation plate to be according to the bottom level of the boat?

    Height varies with the boat, the motor and the propeller. Have someone drive the boat at your typical cruise speed/engine trim angle while you hang over the transom to observe the lower unit. The top of the anti-ventilation plate should be visible, skimming the surface of the water.

    If you have a new boat, more than likely the motor is mounted on the lower than optimal side. Boat builders/dealers are more interested in hearing no complaints than they are in optimizing performance. Most boating folks don't care anyway.
