Was thinking about it last night and trying to come up with a way to rank the sensitivity between the Hammers and others, from my experiences (not word of mouth from others, every rod on this list I have owned and used for bottom baits!) If we say an NRX is a 10 and go down from there...

    Most Sensitive
    10) NRX
    9) Cant say that I've used a 9, Im sure they exist, I would say its as close to NRX as you can get but still tell there is a difference
    8) HAMMER
    7) Loomis IMX
    6) Daiwa Tatula
    5) St. Croix Mojo
    4)
    3) Duckett Micro Magic
    2) Powell Diesel
    1)
    Least Sensitive

    Hope that helps

It's very uncommon for anyone to be disappointed in Hammer Rods. They're extremely nice rods and easily among the best sub $200 rods on the market considering performance, weight, sensitivity, and they have one of the best warranties too. It's also nice that they're made in the US by US employees!!

I see what you are doing here tempting me with the ENOX!! I couldn't imagine a better rod than my Deputy. I caught 2 over 7 yesterday and I felt the fish looking at my bait ha!

Love to hear of others in the realm of the NRX! Id really like to try the ALX rods now so I could weigh in on this and give my impression

Cidgrad, just to be fair, have you actually used a Hammer and an NRX?

Do the hammer rods have exposed threads when the reel is mounted?

Yes they do, they have small rubber winding checks on the end of the threads.

Spoke with Alex (could have been Alec, hard to hear on phone, Cidgrad on here) at lunch. Told me all about the ENOX and ZOLO series, cool stuff with the blank process and how they design their rods.

Ordered a ZOLO Dragger so I should be able to give some feedback after the weekend.

Love my ALX's!!! Been using a Zolo Dream all week with a wacky rigged Senko and its been awesome. Even got me big fish so far for the week a 5.44 pound largemouth. Between the Dream and Deputy you'll be set.

ALX rods get my vote. I bought the model Crank in Jan. I don't know if it's me or the rod but when it hit 70 degrees the other day that rod came to life.

Ive been using ALX rods for 3 years now. Not a single complaint. Think about this, how many companies can you call and talk directly with the design engineer? Not very many, Alex is always upfront with suggestions to fill your needs at a price you can afford, plus just listening to science behind blank technology now a days is cool. For what we subject rods to these days of high sticking, high speed rough water pounding and still give the performance we expect is asking a lot of a piece of carbon fiber.
They might be small company but the quality and service is second to none.
Plus they have been a BBC supported for many years!

Got my ALX Zolo Dragger yesterday, fast shipping, thanks Alex. Appears to be a well built high quality rod, should be able to give some better feedback after the weekend (2-day tournament), where Ill be using it side-by-side an NRX and a HAMMER.

That's a understatement. I was a former Cashion user till I got my ALX.
