    TR-196 - Speed loss.

    2006 TR-196 // 2014 200 ProSX // 26 Fury

There have been quite a few threads lately on this boat, so why not another.

I just converted to a 36V trolling motor, and I have a lost a good deal of speed. I did buy larger batteries, and of course there is one more added as well.

I'm getting a good bit of water pressure (30lbs easily at WOT)

Am I right to assume that the rear of my boat is just sitting farther down, so I need to raise my motor a bit?

    What is your PTP?
What are the current RPM's @ WOT?
Just because the boat sits lower static, does not mean that the motor needs to be raised while running on the pad.
    Weight will always kill speeds.

I see your down here in Louisiana. Mid 80's this weekend, I lose 2 mph compared to 40-60 with lower humidity.

    My PTP is 3 1/16"

My RPM's are slightly low, but it is hard to tell. I bought the Vesselview Mobile this weekend, so I'll have an exact measurement in the next few days.

I'm guessing the 36v TM is heavier as well with most of that being in the motor which, as it it hanging off the front of the boat, is the absolute worst place to add weight.

what is a "good deal of speed"? More than a "smidge" but slightly less than a "f***ton"?

You added another 100+ lbs to the rear so you just need to drop 1" in pitch. That fury isn't the best prop for a heavy loaded boat anyway so try a 25" tempest.

Accurate RPM data @ WOT will tell the tale.
