    Lower unit swap

    I don't have model numbers but will a complete lower unit off a 1990 GT 150 interchange with a 1996 150 intruder?

    Thanks

You will need to measure from the top of the deck to the top of the drive shaft on both cases. the GT may or may not be different in height. Too short and it will mess up the splines in the crank too tall and it will bind the crank. The shift rod will need to be moved from the 96 to the 89 if they match height. The 89 is a one piece drive shaft and the 96 is a two piece.

You'll need to change the driveshaft and shift rod from the '96 to the '90 and the thrust washer may need attention, since the propshafts are a different size.
