How Do You Position When Fishing?

Boat positioning isn't the most glamorous topic but its critically important to your success on the water. This video breaks down my views on when to fish uphill vs. downhill. Do you agree, disagree, or do it totally differently?

Its pretty easy for me. I either position downstream and fish upstream back to the boat for bottom crawfish imitating lures, or position upstream and fish across and down for baitfish imitating lures.

I position my legs in such a way that my balls don't stick to my legs while working the trolling motor.

That is good advice right there. If you get this issue taken care of you will fish a lot calmer throughout the day with will lead to an increase in the number of fish you catch.

How about camera position? So your viewers won't need sunglasses to watch a video

What a good topic to discuss. I've not been running the front of a boat for as long as a lot of guys, but I do feel like I should be better at positioning than I am right now. Thanks for the video!

living/fishing mainly on Tennessee river and others, it has always been important to me, that and fishing the shady side of stuff, but i like it better when people don't pay attention, especially when the "spot" i'm trying to cast to is the size of a car or smaller

I always try and set up the boat so my casts have the lure working through the most productive depths for the majority of the retrieve.

That's not always possible when I'm fishing with somebody in the back of the boat.

If I'm still searching for a pattern I'll set up the boat so my lure retrieve covers different depths from shallow to deep on the retrieve.
