    Garmin newbie questions....

    I am currently running 2 HDS8's Gen2 with a Point-1 Antenna(NEMA2000) and the LSS-1 module and transducer

I am thinking of switching out to all Garmin Eco Chirp 93sv series.

    ?'s
1-Will the Garmin units hook up to the built in transducer in my MinnKota Terrova?
2-Will my Point-1 work with the Gamin units via NEMA2000?
3-Will the Garmin units be able to be networked?
4-Can I read engine data on the Garmin units via NEMA2000?
5-With the built in maps, how often do they update and is there a cost?

Not sure what else at this time.

    THX for the help!

Yes for one of them. You'll probably need a MinnKota to Garmin adapter. If it adapts to Garmin 8 pin you'll also need a Garmin 8 to 12 pin adapter
2-Will my Point-1 work with the Gamin units via NEMA2000?
    Yes
3-Will the Garmin units be able to be networked?
No for sonar, Yes for waypoints
4-Can I read engine data on the Garmin units via NEMA2000?
    Yes
5-With the built in maps, how often do they update and is there a cost?
Once, sometimes twice a year. You get one free update
    Hope this helps.

Was wondering also if I have the HD Maps on one unit will I need them on the second unit or will they be available through the NMEA network?

As far as I know map sharing on Garmin is only available through ethernet networked units. The RJ45 on these units is Panoptix only. It does not do ethernet sharing.

Larry/Todd/TroyBoy. How about commenting on this? The map sharing is not something I should say much about.

Yes, accessory map card sharing is only through Ethernet-networking. But, with the inland version of the echoMAPs (i.e., 73, 93), they all come preloaded with LakeVu HD mapping. So, map sharing is only a potential concern when referring to the LakeVu HD Ultra mapping cards/features.
