    Type of trolling batteries

Hey guys I have a Nitro Z7 pushed by a 150 Optimax. I'd like to go lighter on my trolling batteries without downgrading the performance. I have interstate batteries in there now. I can't afford $1,000 batteries either. What are your suggestions on some trolling batteries.

With batteries usually the heavier the better when talking lead acid and AGM. The only way to go lighter without sacrificing performance/durability is to go lithium.

Im sure you could find some lighter lead acid or AGM batteries that would work, but they prob wont last as long if they are significantly lighter than what you have now. For example going from group 27 to 24's.

Not going to happen. As weight goes down, performance goes down unless you jump to lithium.

I'd go lithium. Relion 50ah should work for you and are $650ish each. IIRC, they are 15 pounds each. I run 3 on my 36v TM.

The batteries are not the place I'd try to loose weight. As stated above most 31AGM or lead acid batteries are gonna be heavy. The lithiums like 06 SB stated are the lightest but the most expensive.

Gotta love BBC!! Done a ton of research and all I had to do was ask here. Thanks guys! Maybe I'll find me a good deal on lithiums at the Classic!

As most have suggested lithiums will be the lightest with the best reserve capacity. For a non lithium battery the lightest with best capacity you would probably be looking at the optima blue top battery.

Optimas are the absolute worst in capacity.

I guess I should have worded that different. You are correct they have a horrible capacity rating, but are one of the one of the lightest non lithium batteries with a higher reserve capacity for it's weight. Hope that makes sense.

I have these in my 2015 Z7 with an 80lb Fortrex, no problems running for 2 days on them without a charge. I had board sponsor cbailey build me a custom tray to hold them in.
