Don't. Laugh.....i fished a lake in a test area (Mil) that had flares a over the bottom. You could see them on the bottom. Rule for the lake.....you must remain in the boat.
Speaking of Bombers...I had just bought a new Bomber dark brown crawdad looking crankbait..2nd or 3rd cast it got hung up on something...no way was I gonna lose that lure on the first trip...I tightened up the drag and pulled straight back on it ...HARD....it let lose and floated back up to the top..when I got it back..both trebles were full of what looked like brown hair....I changed out my lure and fished for awhile longer..when I got it home I held my trusty Bic lighter under the trebles...it was certainly hair..cant get past that smell..don't know if it was beaver..muskrat..otter or human..(maybe Squatch)...I never went back to that lake again...
