    Prop advice needed - Ranger 521 - 250xs??

I've got a 2004 521 & 2004 250xs that has never been propped correctly since I bought it. The stock ranger prop was / is a 27 Tempest Plus. I bought a new one last summer and reached 69MPH at only 5200 RPM. I remember a few years ago over-reving a new 26 Fury and getting less speed out of a 27 Fury than a banged up 27 Tempest Plus. I suspect that a 26 Tempest Plus may be the prop, yet I hate to buy another new prop thinking I've found the right one, again. Would a four blade be better? Has anyone dialed this combination in for speed and or 4' rollers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated - Thx Guys...

How many rpm's did you turn a 26 fury? I'd put a 25" tempest on it to get the rpm's up closer to 5850 maybe even a 24" tempest. For the rollers I'd go with a 26" bravo xs.

My buddy ran a worked Mercury trophy 25 on his 521 and it hauled azz. Those were known as blade slingers so no one really talks about em much. So im guessing that the fury 4 will be a good prop for that boat. The four blades seem to get better lift and carry the load in that big boat better than the threes

If you were hitting 6000 RPM with a 26 Fury, then the prop was junk, or your tachometer is off.

If I remember correctly, I hit the rev limiter but was only doing 63-65. The 26 fury was new out of the box. I put my dinged up 27 Tempest Plus back on and got back up to 65-66. Then bought a new 27 Tempest Plus and hit 68-69 @ 5200. I should have bought a Gambler..... ???

Something was/is seriously wrong....a good 26P Fury, on the limiter of 250 ProXS, should be going 70+ MPH.

Put a 25" tempest on it that's a big heavy boat.

I have a Legend and ran 2 of the Fury 4 blades last week.....they defiantly helped with the hole shot and turning and would be good in rough water, but I got more speed out of the Fury 3 blade. I made a video on it in my youtube channel if you want to check out the prop test.

A properly worked 27 Tempest is the fastest prop for your boat. When properly set-up, that boat/motor/prop is the fastest V-series boat Ranger ever made.

Unfortunately, the guy who worked the Tempest props for that set-up, retired long ago. If you work with Mark C., he will get the prop right for your boat.

I still have a 25p Tempest with his name on it. It would make my 521VX lift so high that I couldn't see over the bow. Rangers are not suppose to do that. Yes, his props were magical.

You'll never turn a 27" tempest enough rpm's to make having a 250xs worth while. Fast and 521V Ranger shouldn't even be used in the same sentence.
