    New Latches Too Big

I bought some new t-handle Whitecap latches for my 93 Ranger 362. Get ready to put them in, only to find out they are about 1/8th inch bigger than the old Perko D- rings that were in it. What's the best way to get them in? I feel like a hole saw would tear up the carpet? Easy way to just shave a little around the edges?

A wood rasp for the holes and then a razor to trim the carpet to size?

I used a cutting disc on a dremmal. Didn't take too long to get all the holes cut out.

Use a hole saw but cut from the bottom, stop cutting just before the carpet then cut the carpet with a razor knife.

Get correct size hole saw cut hole through a scrap piece of plywood center the cut out plywood over old hole clamp if necessary or stand on ply so it won't move put drill in reverse until you get through carpet then put drill forward and drill metal. Sounds complicated but it's very simple just did this to all my compartment latches.
