All,
I have probably spent 40 plus hours researching and comparing a complete boat set up for my Seaark FX 2072. I will use it for a bass boat and a duck hunting boat (but mostly a bass boat for the first few years...waiting for kids to get a bit older for the duck hunting). I am looking at a bow and console mounted screen along with a trolling motor and NMEA 2000 system.
all the research I have done, it seems like you are either stuck with motor guide trolling motors and lowrance HDS (that's the model I am consodering) or you get the minn Kota and hummingbird helix. I really like the intuitive nature of the lowrance hds with the 3D structure scan but if I get the Xi5 trolling motor I can't use the spotlight sonar scan.
the Hummingbird Helix has a nice side scan in the mega and I could use the 360 trolling motor mount transducer with the ultrex trolling motor but the trolling motor is crazy expensive compared to the Xi5.
i am completely lost and need some good direction. Since I am in the Hummingbird section of this site, I know I will get Hummingbird slanted reviews (which is OK). I just want to know which I should go with as I really want to use the GPS lock system and contour tracking system (i know contour is only with HB) with my trolling motor and that seems to limit my ability to use certain bow scan type transducers (spotlight and 360).
any advice would be helpful!
thanks,
Fred
