Angry Opinions on scratches and gouge in hull

Hey guys gonna try and post pics of some gouges in hull and scratches. The scratches are from the carpeted bunks, not sure where the chips and gouges came from. Planning to get Gatorbacks for the bunks to avoid future scratches from bunks, and wait till summer to get the gouges fixed at a local shop. My question is do you think that more damage could result if I don't get the largest gouge fixed sooner. It looks as though the gouge is very close to the fiberglass cloth.

If its that deep, I would get it repaired especially if its on the back half of the hull. You dont want it to open up and cause a bigger problem.

Scratches can be sanded and buffed out.

If the carpeted bunks are damaging the hull I would recommend you figure that out before putting on gatorbacks. Your bunks should not be damaging your hull. If they are then I would be asking what is wrong with my trailer. I waited till I had my trailer reasonably adjusted before switching to gatorbacks and glad I did.

No it is the carpet scratching the hull I believe. It is only on one side. I thought about getting in touch with trail master about the spacers to see if that might help. I just figured that they had corrected any issue by 2016.

yep the carpet will scratch the hull when you power load and get sand or other foreign stuff in carpet. I scratched all of my boats from same thing. The Skeeter, two Rangers and Phoenix. You can usually just wax those off. They are not into hull just light scratches. I never did figure how to stop but I hear the gatorbacks will I would try that first then if it fixes the problem just wax off the scratches and your done. The other looks like the boat hit something and I would get those fixed. just my .02

Wow, those gouges look bad. i would fix those for sure. I have a hard time thinking a carpeted bunk did that. And the scratches that far forward (with the spare in the pic) makes me wonder if you have the trailer backed in far enough. I don't think the boat should even be hitting the bunks that far forward if the trailer is far enough in the water. Just my .02

I took it to Aqua fiberglass in Brandon and talked to The owner Tracy. I have a High School tournament to captain this weekend and then dropping it off to him on Monday. I feel like I must have found one of the many stumps with rebar drove in them at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Makes you want to hurt someone.

very strange. No matter how you load if the bunks are clean, I can't see this. I would be talking with Phx first then Marine Master.

It's all bad. I fish the Mississippi River all the time and I don't think 3 of my boats combined have that much scratching from crap in bunks.
Something has to be off, or you have a beach in your bunks every time out.
The gouges are bad...that can happen as we all know.

Yeah I fish the Mississippi and other local rivers and have never had any scratches like that from my carpeted bunks. Something does seem off there.

I would call the insurance on that gouge if it is too expensive to repair.

That almost looks like a bunk board bolt has backed out, or something hard got caught between the hull and bunk board while loading.
As the issue with the scratches, if the ramp has a lot of small pea gravel, I can see it happening while power loading.
The scratches are no big deal. The gouge... I would have someone look at. Let a professional make that judgment call.

Just posting this out there for anyone/everyone that gets a gouge like that but needs to continue using the boat until there is time to fix it. Loctite Marine Epoxy works very well for that quick patch job and will stay secure until you get it to the repair shop. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Loctite-0...5604/100371825

On my old skeeter it ran 1.5 years after patching a similar sized gouge that the original poster has.
