    Ranger R93 setup

Looking for some input on my boat setup, I have a 2000 ranger r93, 200 mercy efi, 6 inch manual jp, running a 24 tempest, set at 3 1/2 ptp , its turning 6000 at wot and I'm getting 61gps with a medium load, 1/2 tank of gas and live wells full me and all my tackle , hole shot is fine but top end seems low to me, had a 25p tempest and it wasn't much better, ran 5900 rims at wot and got 62.9 gps with same load, any thoughts on getting some more speed out of this rig? Motor runs and idles excellent no problems there and it's been checked out by a trusted mechanic and compression is good all around, had several people tell me this boat motor combo should at least be 65+ top end.

You have a lot of slip with both those set ups, 16 and 17%,
couple of things will usually cause excessive slip, prop damages , excessive weight, jackplate too high or motor trimmed too high would all be good starting points.

The prop to pad sounds about right, how high are you trimming, how tall of a rooster tail and how is the weight distributed would be my first points to look at.

Does the bow lift good? Do you have all of your heavy tackle up front??

When trimming I usually keep it at or just slightly above the cowling, any higher than that and the water pressure drops , the bow lifts decent for a 3 blade I have ran my trophy and it lifts a little better but it is a 24p 4 blade

25p Tempest will probably be the fastest prop. 3.25" is probably the sweet spot. It sounds like you may need a touch of cup added to the prop. If you send it to Croxton he will make that prop spot on. With the worked prop, you may find 3" ptp will be better

You need both props repaired to factory spec to get rid of the prop slip then you can trim out more. You should run high 60's

I have a different motor, but the best i ever saw was 64mph at 5400 rpm at 3.5 below 6inch jackplate. i've run the motor higher and not gained anything with the raker. the problem with this hull is it's very narrow at the front so it doesn't trap air - and the seating position is closer to the mid point of the boat than others. I run a raker II 22pitch now and still get 61 at 5600 rpm just a hair higher than 3.5 ptp. i also don't see much difference between running alone or with my fishing partner. I'm not a speed demon and look more for holeshot and handling than speed.

Props may look mint, but they may not have the cup needed. Cup lessens slightly over time. Trust me your pushing a 25 tempest to almost 6 grand, not gonna hurt to add a little bite onto that prop. It will help
with both bow and stern lift and will awaken that boat. You should have no problem seeing 67-68 in that boat

That has been the best prop and height for my R91. Had some cup added by Propeller Dynamics and the 200 EFI would turn the prop 5900 @ 67 mph. Running the same prop on a 200 Opti now 5600 @ 69 mph. Tried to run it @ 3" ptp but the boat lost lift and speed.

I will take my 25 and have some cup added hopefully that'll make the difference, I don't run the thing wide open all the time but ya gotta have it dialed right so if ya wanna let it eat, it's there...

    Wow, my 2004 200 EFI reclines at 5800. On my 195vs, 200EFI, 6" JP, 3.25" ptp, 25 trophy I'm running 71.6@ 5750-5800.

Those are awesome numbers. Every EFI we have ever propped we have been able to get around 5900 rpm's. They can run there all day long with no issues. Did u have your trophy prop worked?
