    good afternoon.

your money. your choice..........however, a 250 on any boat, for newby is a lot....!!!!!!, might try a used boat with a 150 for at least a year and get lots of seat time,,,,learn to used a hot foot, trim, etc........a 150 on a 18, 18.5ft. will almost touch 60........depending on load.........practice, practice, practice.

lot can happen at 65-70 plus real quick...........life jackets or PFD's pls.........

here's mine.........68.1 on gps.............sweet for me but i've been fishing 40+ yrs..........just saying......the ZX package is pretty damn good..........

NO chine walking..........one handed........2016 zx200, the SHO is a monster....hole shot is great

    good luck,

I believe that ZX Skeeter is going to be a lot wider up front in comparison to that 721. Does that make a difference for you?

I'd choose the Phoenix just for the bad ass look factor.

A 721 Phoenix and a ZX250 are both 62 inches at the seat pedestal. Skeeters look wider because the deck is more flush with the gunnel.

For those that said the Phoenix requires a lot of driving above 70mph. Post #59 of this thread is a video of a guy doing 81 with one hand holding his phone.

I'd choose Phoenix over a Skeeter every time.

No offense but 78 with a 300 is a slug and a gas hog. No way would I personally buy a boat that ran 78 mph with a 300 unless it was a center console offshore boat.

Ofcourse I say the Phoenix as well. This 721 I own was my first bass boat ever and I too had very little experience behind the wheel of a boat like this. After a month of ownership I was running 78 plus mph. Literally if you want to drive this boat to it's full potential you need to push yourself to get better which is what I did. I didn't stay in my comfort zone at 65mph. I let her fly and after you learn to "drive through" chine Its easy. Only thing is some people never can get comfortable doing it after years of ownership. They get upset with the boat blaming everything but themselves. I drive 78 1 handed all day. Im also crazy.

Don't know if I would call high 70s loaded full fuel full live wells basspro in the boxes and two big boys. And he don't have to drive it .Take it all out and you have a 80 + boat that you don't have to drive. Not my fault the old Yamaha s were dogs back in mid 2000.A 250 pro xs or sho will out run them unless they take a trip to Wayne.

lot can happen at 60 in a 18 with a 150.If he can learn to run that he can learn to run a 21 with a 250.
I don't get buying what you don't want just to learn.Just gotta be smart.
