    201 Pro XL Not Lifting

1995 Stratos Pro XL has never lifted like I think it should. Bought 1 year ago with low compression 225 carb motor. Came with 27 shooter and 24 Raker, ran fair but no bow lift. Best with 27 shooter 63 mph at 5600 rpm. Replaced motor with fresh 150 and tried 24 Trophy, 24 Raker, 24 Protester, 23 Tempest, and 24 Tempest. Best with 24 Tempest 53 mph at 5300 rpm. NO LIFT with any prop. Motor in 3rd hole up, no jack plate. I know performance will improve if I can get the bow up, any suggestions?

Not sure if you will ever get lift with a 150.

You're going to need a 22P on that rig. Long time ago I had a 201P with a 150HP, and the 22P was the ticket. It was a Michigan wheel 3 blade

1994 201 Pro XL dual console, with a 1986 Mercury XR2 150HP, 4 blade prop 3 inches below pad on 5 1/2 inch jack plate. Runs 58 mph at 6200 RPM, has amazing hole shot, and tons of lift. Don't let 'em tell you a 150 won't move your boat. Mine hauls the mail with it's little 2 liter Merc. Key to lift is the right prop.

Look at a trophy plus in a 23p. This is a good bow lifting prop and those old motors like the over the hub exhaust style props.

Trophy is a great prop for that hull. Had a '96 with 200 Merc pro max and it would run 65-68 depending on load. You will
not see more than 58-59 with a 150. The setup on that hull is very important. Used to make a huge diff in less than a 1/4" of movement once I found the sweet spot.
If you don't have a jack plate, messing with props is worthless. Get a good 6-8" plate and get the motor height correct first.
