    busted cavitation plate

    knocked about a 3 inch half-circle shaped chunk out of the port side of the cavitation plate on my 98 merc 200 efi. not sure how it happed but it there now and need a solution. thought about a foil or having a piece welded back in. any suggestions? thanks

    My local prop shop fixed mine good as new for less than $200. Looks factory too.

    It's not advised to patch or weld a lu especially capable of bass boat speeds.

    The cavitation plate is out of the water at speed.

    They are welded up all the time. Ask your dealer for the nearest place to get it done.

    I would weld the anti cav plate, Not a skeg on a bassboat. Maybe a pontoon.

    Mines had a half moon chunk missing since my last Fork trip, hasn't hurt a thing, been there at least 6 years.

    Weld you a new piece on. I had one welded on mine for 175 and repainted and it worked good for three years then sold the boat.
