I use the ufp hub oil. Like mike said its got graphite and if it gets water in it just changes color instead of foaming up and overpressuring due to expansion. I think they said the 50wt was just acceptable not preferred

I like the idea of having graphite in it, but I used 50w racing oil in my 2004 trailer with no problems
Just to be sure the hub gets filled all the up until there's no more air bubble in the sight glass? And my local dealer preferred 70-90 Synthetic will this work? Thanks
I fill my 50w synthetic 3/4 on glass so I know how much is in there.

Are these bearings some kind of Small Needle Bearings you guys are speaking of because if they're Tapered Wheel Bearings I pack'em as has been done for over 100 years and never have a problem. Regardless what the Mfg says, they ain't the ones out there on a desolate highway in the middle of the night with a spindle glowing in the dark trying to weld to the hub!!!!
One more VERY IMPORTANT thing: It doesn't matter whether you use Grease or Oil....if you fill it to the max, it WILL push the axle seals out when it heats up.....JUST LIKE YOUR LOWER UNIT......THEN the OIL pours out but Grease keeps on keeping on even if the seal pops out!!!
Just My 2 cents worth of experience!

Semi trucks use oil filled hubs and they run more miles than any bassboat out there... I'll have them all contact QuickBullet for advice...

I have a 14 yr old boat/trailer with these oil filled hubs... I have original seals and changed the oil 2 times. No leaks or issues so far. I follow the manufacture recommendations.
Works great for me.

Well I think you've done really good....keep it up!!!
I've drug bass boats for hundreds of thousands of miles, for dang near 50 years and my greased hubs have never let me down
These are Just Facts and hard to argue with:
Dumping hot hubs in cold water causes the pressure in the hub to drop and ingest water with the slightest seal leakage. Grease can handle it much better than oil...you wouldn't want to run yer lower unit far with water in the oil!
If a trailer sits for long periods of time the top of the seals will dry out plus if long enough rust sets in after the oil leaves the bearings and shaft.
AND the very main reason I don't like a wet hub.....Loose the hub cover or have a seal failure on a greased hub and you can continue driving, even if it throws a lot of the grease out. With the oil bath hub yer dead!
As I said.....each to his own but I'll take the grease and won't be leaving my Bullet on the side of the road!
CHEERS!!!
