If you don't want to spend the money on a new boat, you can find a good place to rebuild your power-head over on the Mercury forums. Go to the 3.0L section and post your serial number. My '05 250xs blew number six cylinder back in 2010. A rebuilt motor from a reputable shop can often times last longer than the original, because good shops pay real close attention to detail.

I've seen them for sale for upper teens to mid 20's with a good motor, depending on trolling motor, graphs, shape of the boat, etc. motor is worth around 6k .

I bought a 2003 tr21 bmc this last july. Has a 2003 250 hpdi and lowrance hds 9's. Clean boat. Very pretty. Motor wasnt in well maintained. I paid 14.5k for it. Just for comparison.
I have the exact boat and motor except for dual console, Mine blew last year and had a sleeve put in and all new rings and pistons, and had the injectors cleaned and flow tested and replaced one bad injector (cause of failure). I ended up spending around 2800.00. Better than a 16k new motor
I have a 01 TR21 with a 08 250 Pro XS. I paid 17k with 500 hours on the motor but its mostly lower rpm range for the hours due to it being a KY boat

You can buy a factory rebuilt 250 power head from mercury and buy up to three years warranty.

Local guy here in Alabama with about 50 years experience on Mercury Motors. He works out of his house now and has all the tools and gadgets to work on the newer engines.
