    Drop no. 1 Piston

    Had my motor rebuild
    Put about 6 or 8 hrs on it
    Then drop no.1 piston
    Any one think they know
    what wet wrong
    This is on a1997 EFI Mer.

    I just want to make sure
    it was not me
    He had me double oil
    Just run RPM up and down
    Never got over 5000 RPM

    if it was never determined why it failed the first, more than likely it will continue to fail, you have to find out what caused the first failure

    Many rebuilt motors fail on the same cylinder that first failed because the sleeve was bored and cleaned up ok but had been distorted by the previous piston damage.Once the interferance fit between the sleeve and block has been compromised in this way the sleeve will no longer pass heat properly and the piston will overheat and fail again.This is why we usually bore the block and fit an oversize sleeve in the event of a badly damaged piston,Chris

    go up one on that pison

    Rich you may be right
    I went over today to check
    on my motor.He said when he
    gets it back from shop he is
    going to have the injectors clean
    He said all the other piston seal
    real good.

    Just ensure to have them verified by either myself or Don. There are hundreds of injector service shops that will be glad to take your money with no validation that injectors are in specification. I've seen this on numerous occasions.
