I'm thinking of getting a x2power 27. I fish afew over night tournaments and don't want power issues. Has any one run a duel purpose battery? I'm also looking at interstate battery's thanks rip

Running the 31M Duracell from there on an Opti, 2 touch graphs and more. Been happy with the performance during TX's with live wells running all day.

It really depends on how many extra things you want the battery to do besides starting the motor. If you run lights and a lot of electronics and pumps a group 27 may not be enough battery. You shouldn't need a group 31 because you don't run an opti max motor but may want a group 29.

It will depend on the motor and the min cranking amps a motor needs and what the boat /motor comb will be doing to answer it correct.
I am running a walmart group 24 battery on my 2.5 200 hp . i dont run any pumps and only 2 Lowrance 113cHD units . But when this one run's out i am stepping up to the group 26.
Has another motor 2004 225 EFI it needs a 1000 cca battery .

northstar 27 AGM,5 year warranty ,if it acts goofy they take it and inspect/charge it overnight,if messed up,free replacement, had 2 replaced in last 8-9 yrs., I dont know the specs, but I used to fish a 2 day tourney with a 2.4 merc. with 9 amp charging system,no issues on my 250xs or my 60 amp 2.5's.

I went through three 24's last season and was so mad the last time I was ready to set the boat on fire. I stepped up to a 31 AGM battery from Batteries Plus with a 4 year warranty. Yeah it was expensive even with the 10% off ($380) it's worth it if I make it back to weigh in. It weighs about 35 pounds more but I haven't noticed any difference in speed or holeshot. I've tried to drain it with all the pumps running and all three depth finders on max and even kept my light poles on (lol). Got some looks for that.
So far so good. I'm gonna get a single bank smart charger just to keep it fresh.

howard47 I don't know what series 24 battery you where trying to run but I don't think a series 24 will even put out enough to start an opti max motor much less run any electronic equipment and pumps after it's started. Rocco73 your motor doesn't require all the power an opti max does to start that's why I said run a group 29 series on your Yamaha.

That's what I thought but apparently that's the battery installed at the factory. I added new bigger Lowrances and I think that's what was killing them. It had the CCAs but that was about it, no reserve.

That means it would start the motor but won't keep anything else running.
