    That's one way to do it. I prefer to overlay the data onto my "driving" screen. I like to use the map/sonar screen while I'm driving around. I have the GPS speed, rpms, water temp, eng. hours, , time, and eng. temp displayed in that order from top to bottom.

    If you go here: ( ) and go full screen, you can actually see the readouts on the screen. There's a clear view at 17 seconds.

    Well, I tried to remove the link. It's hard to see the numbers on the embedded video. To get full screen, you'll have to go to youtube and search for my user name.

    I think you have to have a sending sensor on the motor.........mostly I watch water temp...........check with yamaha

    I like to add the engine overlay as well and have the digital read out on my Map page. I have speed, engine temp, rpms, volts. I overlay my rpm right under my speed so I can see with a glance my performance numbers!
