Tempest Plus 27 on 250 Sho?

I have a 25 vmax sho prop in repair. While waiting I helped a freind in need and bought his Tempest Plus 27. It has the bigger open PVS plugs. I am new to all this prop and pitch. I have a 2012 Skeeter ZX20 with a 250 sho. I do not have a hydraulic jack plate, no power poles, and 4 agms in the back. During hole shot it sounds likes the prop is spinning way to high as the rpms go above what im used to. I did not get to WOT, as was Kentucky Lake was a windy beast last Sunday. Is the tempest too big of a prop? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    I have a 26P Tempest on mine. I don't think you'll get the rpm's you need with that 27.

There is a slight possibility that you can run that prop. The ZX20 did run 26FXPs which are stiff. No jackplate??? what do you mean??

Thats about right for rpm's but the speed is low because the prop needs some work. How's the hole shot.

You need a hydro plate. You should be able to turn the 27 Tempest 6000 rpms easy. I ran the 27 Tempest up to 73-74mph @ 58-5900 rpms on a ZX225/225 SHO. You have an extra 25 hp. You just aren't using it.

That's waaaaayy too much prop. You need a 24p Scorpion. They are super stiff.

    UPDATE 5/26/17
Due to my crazy tournament schedule. I forgot to post. I still have all three holes plugs. The hole shot is super slow due to the fact that prop is slipping during hard throttle. Its not a big deal due to the fact of the tournaments I am are numbered not a shotgun blast. I however would like to remedy this problem as I like to hammer down on the hole shot. Right now I have to feather the throttle to keep the prop from slipping. I will remove one plug for tomorrow and see if that helps.

Don't remove plugs. You are probably slipping because your motor is too high.
