    Question 2001 tr21 setup help

    I'm running a 2001 triton tr-21 with a 2001 Yamaha ox66 3.1L 225. Prop to pad is 3 1/2". Prop is a 23-M three blade. At 5200 ft above sea level. 6" hi- jack manual plate

With 450lb of people, 3/4 tank of gas, both live wells 1/2 full ( I forgot to shut the vale). I'm getting 57gps at 5800 rpms. I just purchased this boat and only have had it out afew time. I was hoping to hit mid 60s. Any advice. Or thoughts.

A 23 is way too small for your boat. You need to step up to a 24 at least. You may not have enough to turn a 25, but you'll be able to turn a 24 for sure.

I have a TR21, (1999) same motor as you. I run a bravo 26 and T1 27. My difference is a bigger jackplate, but I regular run 68 with my fishing partner and have been over 72 by myself.

Rocco73 is going to have a little bit tougher time spinning a prop at his elevation than most. I'm only at 4000 feet in elevation, and my speed suffers because of it. If I was always light and didn't have a partner, a 25 would be my best prop. But I'm usually in a tournament with a 200lb partner, so I went down to a 24 to get my best top end speed I could get when fishing tournaments. I'm thinking a 24 is going to be the ticket.

Your RPM's are 200 rpm's low......I would leave it alone until you learn how to drive it.
