    Bimini on an RT188, pics

A couple of guys asked that I post pictures of my bimini top on my RT188. This is a custom kit sized for the RT188 and was purchased here http://www.websweeper.com/biminitops/id-28677
I went with aluminum frame, Sunbrella fabric and stainless hardware kit. It comes complete and ready to be put together and mounted.
I did shorten my main bow 5 inches and mounted it where it set on the perimeter of the back deck when down and in the boot.

That looks like it would not get in the way too bad. I bet that shade is nice to sit down and drink a bottle of water in the summer.

Nice. I may go ahead and do this. I have spent too many days sitting in the boat with no shade in the summer. Very miserable

The attachment rails are GearTrac brand and they came from www.yakattack.us

Not sure what you mean by push pin holders?

Again, thanks for the pictures but I have a question for you. When the bimini top is up, can you set in the back deck seat and able to troll crankbaits out the back or does the bimini not allow you to set up in the back deck seat?

As I have it set it would not be possible to sit in the rear seat. Not a problem for us because the wife likes to fish early with the bimini down then mid day when it gets hot, she pulls the bimini up and lounges, reads, preps lunch, etc., while I fish from the front. This was her preferred mid day activity before we bought the bimini, it just gives her more comfort and lets me duck under to cool off. But, remember a 4 strap bimini can be adjusted some to lean forward and back. So you could adjust it forward enough to allow someone to sit in the back chair if you wanted. You can also buy slide rails to mount on the gunnels that would allow you to slide the whole bimini forward and back when needed. They offer it as an option.

The anchor pole holders I use are Kingpin. The mounting of them is somewhat custom. I bought aluminum track mounts from Cisco Fishing Systems. The Cisco mounts are meant for Tracker Versa Track rails but I switched out their bolts for the Mighty Bolts sold for use with the GearTrac rails. I had to drill and tap holes in the Cisco mounts to match the hole pattern in the Kingpin holders.

When mounting something like that to the gunnel; do you just use screws or do you use a nut so you can get a washer and nut on the other side?

I love it! I'll be going to pick up my Crestliner VT 18 this Wednesday and I really think I want one of these. Which fabric did you go with? Also is your frame aluminum or stainless? it's obvious you got the stainless fittings. If it's aluminum, I think it looks fine with the stainless fittings.

It looks like the grab handle would have to be removed to install the slide rail. Is that correct?

No way to get a nut inside the gunnel rail. I used stainless self taping screws. They come with the kit.
