Sorry for being a little late on this but I've finally put together a schedule. The rules have not changed from last year and can be viewed here: RULES
Date Lake Ramp 04/02/2017 Falls Lake Ledge Rock 04/23/2017 Jordan Lake Poe's Ridge 05/07/2017 Shearon Harris Cross Point 05/28/2017 Falls Lake Ledge Rock 06/11/2017 Jordan Lake Poe's Ridge 06/25/2017 Shearon Harris Cross Point 07/09/2017 Jordan Lake Poe's Ridge 07/23/2017 Make up or MLF format Harris @ Cross Point 08/06/2017 Classic TBD
A couple of things to note:
- Schedule starts later and fewer tournaments this year. We had the best turnout during the middle part of the season so I cut out the March tournament and some of the later ones.
- I had to put a tournament on Memorial day weekend. Not optimal but I have other things I have to work around.
- I was not happy with some of the dead fish in the later tournaments last year and while we do have a penalty for dead fish I didn't worry about it to much unless if could affect who finished in the money. That was wrong of me so every fish will be checked at every tournament and penalties will apply. Also, I will be watching the forecast and if the day is going to be nasty hot I will choose to end the tournament earlier to minimize stress to the fish (and fishermen). This will be announced before the day of the tournament.
- Someone suggested a make up date and that was a great idea so I added a couple of options for that. If we have to cancel a tournament for any reason we'll reschedule it on one of those dates.
- Since I've seen people talk about an MFL style tournament I thought it would be fun to experiment with that. Its scheduled for the second make up date so we'll do it then if we don't need to use that date for a make up. I'll work out the rules in more detail before we get there, but here's what I'm thinking:
- Harris lake so we can finally count all the slots we catch.
- You have to have fished at least one regular season tournament to participate. This applies to both anglers in the boat.
- DOES NOT count towards Classic qualification.
- Probably not a team format.
- Low entry fee. Since we don't have true officials I want to keep the money aspect low in this event to reduce stress (mostly mine) or any potential claims of impropriety of the participants. I think we can use the app free this year and if that is true the fee will only be $5, if not it will be $10 to cover the per angler cost of the app.
- This is intended to be fun and low key and I'm open to other ideas that would promote this goal.
