    176 jack plate set back.

    Hi,

Just after some advice as to how much set back I should look for as I am about to install a jack plate on my 176. I think I mainly just need the height adjustment to fine tune the setup but wanted to optimise the correct setback too. Is more ALWAYS better? My garage only has about 6 inches more room to increase length so I was thinking 4" would suffice. Thoughts?

More is not always better concerning jackplates. A six inch plate is more standard, and what I would recommend.

Nope 4" was far enough for me any further and you have to change control cables and steering cables. All I wanted was motor height adjustment. The only way I see a need for a lot of set back is for higher performance hulls.
