Picked up the Hobie

I went into my local Hobie dealer yesterday just as they were offloading the Hobie shipment. They unloaded my 2017 Hobie Outback and went over it with me, and then installed the Thule rack system on my wife's vehicle we decided to use hers as I tend to not keep my vehicles long). The best part is that they installed the Thule for free. I love to support small business. It's hard to beat the customer service, especially from a business that has been around for 70 years. The bad is that I probably won't get her on the water until April. A busy schedule and a mini vacation thrown in are going to keep me busy. I'm anxious to hit the water though. We have so many small water lakes around me that it's going to be peaceful! Here is a pic of her getting loaded up.

Had Sherm sell it for me a while ago. Just don't have the time to use a boat with children in travel sports and we installed an in-ground pool. I knew it was just going to sit there. This allows me to get out for a few hours at a time and get my serenity. I missed fishing something fierce. Plus, we are moving in a few years and will probably be on salt water.

I bought a Yak for quick trips and small water adventures. I found my Cat just sitting and sitting so I sold it too. . I miss it sometimes but really love we sneak these Yaks into. Hell I'm thinking about adding another one to be lighter than my Pro Angler.

They unloaded a Pro Angler tandem yesterday and that thing is a MONSTER. I think the Outback is perfect.

Congrats. Look at it as discovering a whole other world of fishing that wasn't accessible to you in the bigger boat.

We have a lot of small HP lakes, or no motor lakes that I have been looking forward to getting on. I thought about buying a BCB Phelix and throwing a 9.9HP on it but I have always wanted a Hobie, and the extra exercise will be great. I'm looking forward to getting out.

Congrats. I bought my yak for the same reason, working alot and needed to get out for an hr or 2. I still have my Champ tho.

UPDATE: I ordered a Thule Hullavator Pro to hep out with getting this kayak on and off the vehicle. It reduces the weight by 40lbs which is great since I have a total shoulder replacement. It's getting installed tomorrow morning so we will see.

Here are a few pics of it installed with the Hobie Outback in the side loading position (this is a demo of theirs in camp but the same model I have). It's going to help quite a bit with lifting since it reduces 40lbs of the boats weight. You can see how massive these Hobie's are compared to my wife's SUV

I think my wife and I are going to rent two yaks one weekend and see what we think. she wont fish just yak and look at scenery where ill fish. plus be nice to get out in evenings a couple hours on some city lakes and some creeks
